| Prologue: Behind The Scenes (11/21/08) |

A preview of things to come. I know that I said that I wouldn't be revealing anything from the next chapter, but the image I initially planned to have here was lost. Maybe I'll locate it for next time. In any case, I want to say several things about the future of the comic. There is undoubtedly a long road ahead of us. I have always been a proponent of the idea that the reader is as crucial a contributor to a story as anybody else, so I'm gonna be as honest as I can with you guys. Epitaph is work. I'm gonna come right out and say it. But it's something we have fun with, and we expend an enormous amount of effort to produce it. Over the past few weeks I have given you a taste of the kinds of things we've done and the decisions we've made in the hopes that perhaps they will interest you and give you a look inside the great rapport we have developed working together on the comic. The Prologue is a learning experience, and we've definitely discovered scratches that need buffing out and ideas that need improvement. So while I've been continously going through the script with a fine-tooth comb, Roberto has been doing drawing after drawing trying to get the characters down. We really hope to have all of that done with by mid-December, so that hopefully we can start posting Chapter 1 pages by the end of that month. Until then, updates will cease, but I will continue to keep you guys posted on the status of Chapter 1 on the Forum. I'm going to make absolutely certain that you will be informed of when to expect to see the first page. Based upon the stuff we've been doing currently, I will say you're in for a hell of a BTS feature after Chapter 1 wraps- that is, if you guys really liked the whole BTS thing. Please, indulge me, and tell us what you thought of it. We're here for you guys, and we'll totally listen to everything you say. Thanks for reading, Kris |
